BREEDING FORUM

At the ends of September 2016, I decided to start up a forum to discuss how good horses are bred and open it up to anybody who wished to learn by interaction.
On my Facebook page mateyourmare thoroughbred breeding forum there are over 50          7 generation pedigrees and explanations of recent Group one winners and what I believe made these horses successful, once joined all you have to do is put the name of the horse you want to see the pedigree of in the search box on the side.

Here are a few postings that have been made on this Facebook forum.

My first paying customer was a gentleman named Ray Johnson who had a mare he brought named Lilahjay he asked me to find a suitable stallion for him, I selected Power and the resultant foal was named Will power who won 8 races in Hong Kong and over $2million Australian dollars the next mating was to Hes Remarkable which gave him Tickford who so far has had 19 starts for 3 wins and $66,000 and his third mating that I did for him was Bullbars who is Mr Brightside who has won nearly $13 million and 16 our of 32 races .

When I select horses out of the sales I look for what I think will be cheap and in the Magic Millions 2018 sale I spotted lot 2091 by Uncle Mo that had a nice balanced pedigree, he sold for $8,000 he ran in a Group 3 race on Saturday and finished 5th at Rosehill the Hawkesbury Guineas, however, His name is now Mo's Crown he has won 6 races so far and over $300,000.

Regarding the very good horse winner of 20 races from 21 starts including the Derby in Hong Kong named Golden Sixty I copy part of the text I sent to my client and also in my selections was Voyage Warrior who has just won a group 2 race in Hong Kong as well.
Lot 136 will be a very dear buy  it ran in the 16th heat on the second day, heat no 113 and ran a very good time of 10.48
as reported before it has line-breeding of Northern Dancer to the sire and dam you cannot get better than that, it also has Damascus 4M x 4F, Hail to Reason 6M x 6M,6F Backed up his sire Turn-To with the opposite strain coming through the daughter Gay Rig, Princequillo 7F, 6M x 7F, Polynesian 7M x 7M,7F Eight Thirty 7F x 7M Djebel 7M x 7F and Ribot 6F x 7M plus balanced Native Dancer this would have to be one of the best-balanced pedigree I have ever seen, so I would rate this number one
and there are still a lot of people that say there is nothing in this line breeding and you might as well use a pin when selecting horses out if a sale.

A chance meeting leads to breeding the winner of the premier sprint race in New Zealand the Group one Sistema Railway handicap 2019, In 2012 I was traveling up to Whangarei in the horse truck with my horse and trainer and Stephen Ralph got a lift with a couple of horses to cut down costs, I got talking about my success in selecting the group one winners in the previous 2 years out of the sales for Chris Grace and then I mentioned that I had thought I had bred the fastest horse ever, as his father stood Te Puninga that sired the unofficial world record holder Methanol in 1.06'6 over 1200 metres and my mating had the same matching pedigree but was stronger in a couple of ways, however it was not to be, as he got a bone decease and had to be put down as a yearling, he then asked me if I do matings for people I said I do one or two a year for friends as I was still working and my website had not been thought of at the time, he said he had a client that has retired his mare Monarch a winner of 2 races and he may be interested in talking to you,
Stuart the owner of the mare Monarch did ring me and I invited him to my place to show him what I did and explained things like Mendel's law and my line breeding principles and so he asks me to select a stallion for him, this was the only mating I did that year, I selected 2
, Per Incanto that was standing for $5,000 and Cape Blanco at $14,000 so he took the cheapest option and her first foal was a filly, Santa Monica that as I said won the Railway yesterday

Another horse to win on the race card at Ellerslie was a 3yo gelding named Super Gee this was one of my selections in the 2017 Festival Yearling Sale but as it didn't have the best of knees just like Mystic Journey my client didn't buy it and it was sold for $ 10,000, He has won his only 2 starts but was relegated to 2nd for interference at his first start,  you can see the balance of the Sir Tristram 5M,5F x 5F both to dam line of sire and dam

Mystic Journey, winner of the Group I Australian Guineas, as mentioned before I selected her out of the Tasmania yearling sale for a customer who didn't buy her as he thought her knees were not that great, she sold for $11,000 and has now won over $4 Million dollars.

Most of us cannot afford a son of Galileo who is a champion Sire and he like a few others such as Fastnet Rock and Savabeel don't need much line breeding, due being so powerful to the genes they need to make a good horse, and the mares like this one have International dam lines, in this case, a daughter of Princequillo, that's why we line-bred to have a chance to compete with these champion and expensive stallions and mares, I have spent many hours studying Galileo and he seems to click with, Prince John his sire, Princequillo and his sire Prince Rose so when I get a spare 100 hours I will do a breakdown on all his group winners to find if this is correct and why,
Yucatan, the winner of the Herbert Power G2, follows this pattern with Princequillo 6F x 6M,6F to the powerful dam line. this pedigree also has the brother's Acropolis 6M x Alycidon 7F have attached the pedigree to view

I read an article that covered the pedigree analysis of the super horse California Chrome, it covered 3 pages and it didn't make me any wiser on how to breed one like him, but under my system, I will explain my findings that I hope to keep simpler. He has 9 different line breeding's, they are MR Prospector 4F x 3M, Northern Dancer 7M x 6M,5F Native Dancer 7F, 6M x 6F,7F Princequillo 7F,7F,6M,6M x 7F,7F and to the powerful bottom line of the mare, Sir Gaylord 7F,6F x 5M, I believe this is one of the keys as the sire Lucky Pulpit had Sir Gaylord as 2 Daughters in his pedigree and with this mating it brings in the opposite strain a son namely Sir Ivor, and Sir Gaylord's sire is Turn-to by Royal Charger and another key, as you get the opposite strain the daughter Royal Mink in the sire, a further note is that the damsire of Sir Gaylord is Princequillo as mentioned above, Then we have Nasrullah 7M,7M,7M x 6M,7F,7F, Mahmoud 7F,7M x 7F,7M this is beautifully balanced, and to finish it off it has Nearco the sire of Royal Charger balanced 7M x 7M,7M,7F. Do I see horses with 9 different line breedings and with the tie-ups of independent lines behind the first line breeding, the answer is no and that is why California Chrome is so superior to others?

As I had written about California Chrome yesterday, I felt I should look at the horse Arrogate that headed him to be rated the best horse in the world, my findings were Raise A Native 5M x 5M, 6F, Native Dancer bred the ultimate way that I state on my website and try to copy, it's to the top of the sire line and the bottom of the dam line 6M x 6F (refer Buffering with Prince John) he also appears,6M,7F,7F,7M, in the dam side and another key is that the sire Unbridled's Song is line-bred to Rough n' Tumble 5M x 6F and the dam brings another line through the double up of In Reality this pedigree also carries Polynesian 7M x 7M,7F,7M and Nasrullah 7M.6M x 7M,7F
I also found it interesting how closely related the sire's dams were the dam of Unbridled's Song, Trolley Song by Caro out of Lucky Spell and Lucky Soph dam of Lucky Pulpit by a son of Caro out of Lucky Spell,
